The face of the façade is tempered crystal, in 1.22 x 1.82 m vertical modules, with variable curving. On the back, a triple screen has been applied with the aim to avoid transparency of the crystal, as well as the modular repetition, with the clear intent to appear like a single continuative “veil”.
In addition, the Aliva structure has been designed to accommodate in the empty space a computerised lighting-technique system that guarantees the ventilated façade a personalized characteristic of total originality: the continuative crystal veil looks like an intense and shining variable chromatic skin, with its meandering waves and the gleaming movement of colour, it gives a fascinating “aurora borealis” effect .
Another consideration that has strongly influenced Aliva in the design of the façade: is the fact that Mexico City stands on a highly seismic area.
Therefore, the façade has been provided with expansion joints, so as to tolerate strong telluric tremors and to avoid that its components become damaged or broken, should they come into contact with one another.
