The INVOLUCRO AD ALTE PRESTAZIONI project aims to intervene on the building envelope, in particular on the ventilated façade, to help in the improvement of the energy performance of both new and existing buildings. Through the development of innovative technologies, Involucro ad Alte Prestazioni aims to increase the characteristic performances of the ventilated façade, enabling it to produce and store energy.
 
The main goal of this project is to radically change the traditional ventilated façade technology by transforming it into an intelligent modular system, able to dynamically adapt to external environmental conditions and to achieve high performance in the energy, acoustic and environmental fields both in winter and summer. To this end, the research will develop coating solutions, support devices and efficient air space management methods.
 
During the research and experimentation phase, tests about new modules with solar reflectance characteristics (to reduce the thermal load) and the use of phase change materials (to increase thermal inertia) with integrated photovoltaic elements (to produce energy from RES) will be run and validated in the field. Also, new intelligent devices will be added in order to control the arrangement of ventilation grilles as well as several cladding plates to reduce vibrations.
