In collaboration with the architectural firm "Sheppard Robson," Aliva designed a striking gold façade of anodized expanded metal, designed to create depth and a strong visual impact, and to attract the attention of the millions of visitors to the main hospital in Manchester.
At the base of the façade, the expanded metal panels are screen-printed with a cityscape to draw attention to the level of the roadway and to guide drivers towards the entrance and services.
In addition to the architectural impact, the design of the façade provides the highest levels of safety, performance and usability making it possible to achieve the ideal rate of natural air renewal (minimum 60%) within the structure, eliminating the need for forced ventilation.
The solution designed by Aliva allows the system to be anchored from floor to floor.
To take account of the inclination of the floor due to the presence ramps linking the various levels of the building, Aliva’s engineers designed a customised solution that allowed the installers to anchor the brackets to the floors and also to install the vertical risers at different levels, thus ensuring the structural performance and safety required by the project.
